For the same reason our smartphones transformed into being multipurpose machines (camera, email, flashlight, translator, etc.) it’s time for rail computers to do the same. By using a virtualization platform, multiple passenger applications (PIS, PAS, CCTVs, WiFi) can run on a single hardware device, eliminating the need for multiple isolated systems, remove vendor lock-in risks, and enhancing flexibility and increasing the ease of monitoring and implementing (software-only) new applications (AI on the edge, etc.). In this session we will bring some ideas and insights on how to achieve this, and how it’s working already with production environments.
