To meet the increasing demand for transport of both passengers and freight, the project creates the conditions for a future digitalized and automated European railway system. This is done partly by developing the next generation safety system/automatic train control (ATC) and partly by delivering scalable digital and up to fully automatic train operation functions (DATO). Overall, it contributes to improved capacity in the existing railway networks as well as increased productivity for personnel, rolling stock and infrastructure.
