Sustainability at Train & Rail
Sustainability is an integral part of how Train & Rail is planned and delivered. As the Nordic region’s largest trade fair for sustainable rail transport, we have an opportunity to make a difference by highlighting key issues, encouraging dialogue and driving progress across the industry.
Our approach is guided by established sustainability principles and forms part of Stockholmsmässan’s overall sustainability strategy.
GOAL 9: BUILD RESILIENT INFRASTRUCTURE, PROMOTE INCLUSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE INDUSTRIALIZATION AND FOSTER INNOVATION.FRASTRUKTUR
Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation.
Target Sustainable Development Goals:
9.1 DEVELOP SUSTAINABLE, RESILIENT AND INCLUSIVE INFRASTRUCTURES
Develop quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, including regional and transborder infrastructure, to support economic development and human well-being, with a focus on affordable and equitable access for all..
9.4 UPGRADE ALL INDUSTRY AND INFRASTRUCTURE FOR SUSTAINABILITY
By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and adapt industry to make them sustainable, with more efficient use of resources and more clean and environmentally friendly technologies and industrial processes. All countries are taking action according to their respective circumstances.
Train & Rail contributes to targets 9.1 and 9.4 by:
- We bring together key decision-makers from across the rail industry to drive progress at the pace required, while keeping sustainability at the forefront.
- We invite speakers and companies specialising in sustainable infrastructure to share their expertise
- We have a number of sessions that focus entirely on infrastructure linked to sustainability
- We work closely with industry associations to communicate our selected Sustainable Development Goals and raise awareness through their networks and communication channels
GOAL 11: SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES
Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
Target Sustainable Development Goals:
11.2 PROVIDE SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT SYSTEMS FOR ALL
By 2030, provide access to safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport systems for all. Improve road safety, in particular by expanding public transport, paying particular attention to the needs of people in vulnerable situations, women, children, persons with disabilities and older persons.
11.A PROMOTE NATIONAL AND REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLANNING
Promote positive economic, social and environmental links between urban, peri-urban and rural areas by strengthening national and regional development planning.
Train & Rail addresses sub-goals 11.2 and 11.A by
- We have a strong focus on exhibitors working in Railway Safety to meet the needs that exist and will exist
- Our seminar programme includes sessions focusing specifically on railway safety.
- We invite politicians at national, regional and local levels with responsibility for rail, infrastructure and urban planning to take part in the Train & Rail programme.
- We provide dedicated meeting spaces where stakeholders can connect and collaborate across organisational boundaries.
